III Copenhagen Bridge Invitational – CBI Pro / Am, 15 january 2015
The Copenhagen Invitational is a biennial event that was played for the first time in 2011 and was repeated in 2013. The first tournament on the CBI is a PRO/AM event, this thursday January 15th, 56 pairs participated in the Copenhagen Bridge Invitational PRO/AM at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel.
The PRO/AM, is first of all a fun event. The amateurs had bid for their professional partners in an auction over several months, there were also playing some am/am pairs in the field. Some of the prices payed for the stars were: Dennis Bilde went for 4500 DKK = 700 USD. Versace was bought for 3500 DDK (about 550 USD) and Sabine Auken 4000 DKK…All the prices Click Here.

The participants played 14 Rounds – 2 boards per round. The event was transmited in BBO, so the kibitzers could watch, many of the world bridge stars as Zia Mahmood, Gus Hansen the poker-player, Thomas Bessis…
After de first three rounds Peter Fredin – Lars Peter Damgaard were leading the field and one round later Dennis Bilde – Jørgen Overgaard were first. When Round 8 started, Alfredo Versace – Jan Nielsen led the field and they stayed there for the next 4 rounds, while the winners worked hard to climb from the 8th position to the first in Round 12 with only two rounds to go. Finally they won the event after losing the lead in Round 13.
Christian Lahrmann, 11 years old played: Has played bridge for 4 years. Is the youngest national Denmark player and has represented his country for the first time in the 2012 European Junior Teams Championship.
