Conventions: GAR by Saverio Margiotta

Benito Garozzo
Benito Garozzo

Hi Fernando,

here is my version of GAR.

It is part of AMBRA, Garozzo’s system he created for Italian Junior Team (I was part of it) in the early 90’s.

It applied to 2 suiters but it was a GF relay, not a game try.

When opener have shown a 2 suiter, responder relay in 2N and opener act as follow:

3= max hand in contest (sometimes in Ambra opener has already shown min/max so that max when he showed min would be 14/15)

3= 10 cards (6-4 or 5-5) of course if you opened a minor then it will always be 6-4

3 = Low short and min

3= High short and min

3NT= 2-2  and min

3 will be relayed with 3 and opener will act as he would have with a minimum hand.

3 will be relayed with 3 and opener will bid:

3= 6-4  (or min no voids if he can only have a 6-4)

3NT= 5-5 (or max no voids if he can only have a 6-4)

4= 6-4 max (18+) or 6-4 with void in Lowest suit if he only could have a 6-4

4= 5-5 max or 6-4 with void in Highest suit if he only could have a 6-4

Warm regards.
Saverio
