This year the Spring NABC home was Reno, during this event was played one of the most prestigious events in the world bridge: The Vanderbilt Cup, won by the Lavazza Team,  seed number 1:  Alejandro Bianchedi, Diego Brenner, Giorgio Duboin, Zia Mahmood and Agustin Madala y Norberto Bocchi.

Lavazza beat Cayne 164-111. Cayne Team: Antonio Sementa, Lorenzo Lauria, Alfredo Versace and Mustafa Cem Tokay, James Cayne and Michael Seamon.

Schwartz takes Jacoby Open Swiss title

Boye Brogeland, Espen Lindqvist, Richard Schwartz, Daniel Korbel, Huub Bertens and Allan Graves, winners of the Jacoby Swiss Teams.

The Richard Schwartz team had the Jacoby Open Swiss Teams won with a round to go. The team: Boye Brogeland, Espen Lindkvist, Schwartz, Daniel Korbel, Huub Bertens and Allan Graves. Second in the Swiss teams went to Nickell (npc): Steve Weinstein, Bobby Levin, Jeff Meckstroth and Eric Rodwell.

Meckstroth edges Ferm for Women’s Swiss victory

The Sally Meckstroth team won the Machlin Women’s Swiss Teams by 0.23 victory points. The winners: Cecilia Rimstedt, Marion Michielsen, Meckstroth, Meike Wortel and Ida Groenkvist. Second in the Women’s Swiss: Juanita Chambers, Migry Zur Campanile, team captain Barbara Ferm, Jill Levin and Jill Meyers, and Judi Radin.

Mott-Smith Trophy

Geoff Hampson and Eric Greco finished with 315.71 masterpoints to win the MottSmith Trophy, given to the player who accumulates the most masterpoints at the Spring NABC. The pair picked up 200 points with their win in the prestigious Norman Kay Platinum Pairs, and 80 more when their Vanderbilt team advanced to the quarterfinal round before being knocked out. They tacked on 35 more on Sunday with a ninth-place finish in the Jacoby Open Swiss Teams.
