camberra bridge festival 2017From the 10th to the 22nd of January; Organized by the Australian Bridge Federation; was held the 55 Canberra Summer Festival of Bridge.

The most important event within the festival was the Australian National Open Teams Championship, the field this year was 126 teams.

After a qualifying Swiss RR, the top 8 teams advanced to the Knock Out instance.

The final:

The two most powerful teams were the Lavazza team: Agustin Madala, Alejandro Bianchedi, Giorgio Duboin, Dennis Bilde, Norberto Bocchi and Antonio Sementa, who clashed with the Milner team: Reese Milner, Hemant Lall, Justin Lall, Jacek Pszczola, Jacek Kalita , Michael Nowosadzki.

Four sets, 16 boards each, were played, and until the last hand either team could have won the match.

After the first 32 boards the result was tied, in the third set the Milner team took the lead by 22 IMPs that could not sustain. In the last set Lavazza team won by 27 IMPs winning the tournament.

At the end of the match Agustin Madala wrote on his facebook wall: “We came back to victory! Suffered, but finally.”
