SONSINI WINS WOMEN’S USBC, WILL BE USA1 FOR BALI VENICE CUP

 Barbara Sonsini, Judy Radin, Lynn Deas, Beth Palmer, Irina Levitina and Kerri Sanborn, defeated the Lynn Baker team to win the 2013 Women’s United States Bridge Championship.

The 2013 Women’s USBC is selecting the USA teams for the 2013 Venice Cup, to be held in Bali, Indonesia, Sept. 16-30, 2013.

Location & Dates

The 2013 USWBC is being held at the Buena Vista Palace, in Orlando, FL, starting on Friday, July 12th and probably ending on Thursday, July 18th. 

Format 

With 6 teams entered, the initial stage of the event was a 2 day Round Robin to select 4 teams for the Semifinal. With 6 teams, the Round Robin was: 5 matches of 11 boards each on each day.  The Semifinal was played one day, 64 board Knockout, on July 14th. The winning Semifinalists will play a 2 day USA1 Finals on July 15th-16th. At the same time, the losing Semifinalists will play a 2 day USA2 Semifinal match.

The losing USA1 Finalist and the winning USA2 Semifinalist will play a 2 day USA2 Finals on July 17-18.
