In Category U 26, where seven teams participated, the RR consisted of 12 boards matchs. At the end of the 7 rounds, the semi-finals are:

The semifinals were matchs of 5 sets, 12 boards each. Completed the 60 boards, ARGENTINA & COLOMBIA arrived to the final.

In the first 12 boards, neither team managed a significant advantage, the set ended 21-19 in favor of Argentina. In the second set Argentina’s players  managed to distance themselves a bit more, at the end of this group of boards, with no double-digit swing, Argentina adding little by little in 9 of the 12 boards of the set, was 27 IMPs ahead (54-27). In the third and the fourth set Argentina reached enough difference…Chile could no longer recover. Finally Argentina defeated Chile by more than 100 IMPs.

In this semifinal Colombia managed to make a difference from the first set, winning the first boards by 50 IMPs. Uruguay never managed to recover and ended up losing the match by 117 IMPs.

Only half an hour after the completion of the Semi-Finals, Argentina and Colombia began to face each other to define the U-26 South American Champion 2016.

Both teams will represent the Zone 3 in the next World Youth Championships in Salsomaggiore, Italy 3 -13 August, 2016.
