Format of the 2012 SportAccord World Mind Games

The second edition of the SportAccord World Mind Games will take place from 12-19 December 2012 in Beijing – China in the Beijing International Convention Centre.The format of the competitions are now published.
You will find below the format for the five sports, for each gategory

 BRIDGE
The Bridge competitions at the SportAccord World Mind Games are held under the auspices of the World Bridge Federation. 24 men and 24 women in total will compete in individual, pair and team events.
Men’ Teams: China – The Netherlands- Sweden – USA
Women’ Teams: China – France – Great Britain – USA

CHESS 
The Chess events at the SportAccord World Mind Games 2012 are under the auspices of the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
32 athletes, 16 men and 16 women, will compete for the medals.
The disciplines on the programme will be for both men and women Rapid, Blitz, Blindfold and Pair.

DRAUGHTS 
The Draughts competitions at the World Mind Games 2012 are guided by the World Draughts Federation (FMJD).
Twenty-eight players (12 women, 16 men) will compete in the disciplines: Men’s 100 blitz, Women’s 100 blitz, Men’s 100, Women’s 100. Additionally, 4 players will deliver a Checkers demonstration events.

GO
The Go events at the SportAccord World Mind Games 2012 are held under the auspices of the International Go Federation (IGF). Twenty-nine players (16 men and 12 women) will participate.
The competition format will comprise a Men’s Individual and Women’s Individual event and Pair Go. For all matches, the China Weiqi Competition Rules are used.
The Individual event will feature a double elimination with seven rounds in total. The time limit for each side is 1 hours, with three 30-second byo-yomi periods.
Eight pairs will compete in the Pair Go event. It will be a single elimination with two rounds each day and three rounds in total. The time limit is 1 hour each side, with three 30 second byo-yomi periods.

XIANGQI
The Xiangqi event is held in conjunction with the World Xianqi Federation (WXF). There will be an individual event for both men and women.
The men’s event, with 8 players, will be a single round robin, 7 rounds in total.
