On Thursday, October 4, 2012 began the first stage of the Argentina Bridge trials to nominate the official team in the “Open” and “Ladies” categories for the upcoming South American Bridge Championship 2013 qualifier for the next Bermuda Bowl 2013.
The first stage consisted of a team tournament.

In the Ladies category four teams faced each other, disputing the final the top two, the victory was for the South American Masters: Silvia Boldt, Maria Elena Iacapraro, Gloria Iribarren y Charo Garateguy.
In the open category, only two teams entered and they had to play 80 boards divided into 5 sets of 16 hands each. At the end the winner was defined by only 1 IMP difference: Héctor Camberos, Pablo Lambardi, both GMS (Gran Maestro Sudamericano), Pablo Ravenna (MS), and the Argentine Masters: Carlos Pellegrini, Leonardo Rizzo and Gabino Alujas. The other team: the Southamerican Masters Alejandro Bianchedi y Ernesto Muzzio y Gustavo Alujas, and the Argentine Master Julio Alfonsin.

The second stage: A Pairs Trial
This tournament, will be held from 26 to 29 October, will be played as a “Butler” and is open to all members of the ABA. The first three pairs classified in both categories, open and ladies, wil conforma a second team and will be qualified for the third stage.

The Third Stage: The Gran Final
The finalists will compete in a 96 boards final, to be held on 4, 5 and 6 November and that will be transmited on BBO.
The South American Championships in both categories awards two seats to play the Bermuda Bowl and the Venice Cup which will be held in Bali (Indonesia) in 2013.
Lavazza in the Open and Nardullo in the Ladies are leading the field. Agustin Madala and Monica Aghemo are leading the butler in the Open and Ladies respectively.

An endplay (also throw-in), in bridge, is a tactical play where a defender is put on lead at a strategic moment, and then has to make a play that loses one or more tricks.
The Championship is open to all players born on or after 1st January 1992 (Juniors & Girls) or born on or after 1st January 1997 (Youngsters) or born on or after 1st January 2002 (Kids) in good standing with their own NBOs.
