Andrew Robson’s Tips

When you have four + card support for partner’s opening bid, you should support him immediately. The better your hand the more you should bid. The best method of evaluating your hand in such fit auctions is [ilink url=”http://csbnews.org/new/losing-trick-count-by-ron-klinger/?lang=en”]The Losing Trick Count (LTC).[/ilink]

Consider the ace as winning the first round of each suit, the king the second round, and the queen the third. Count up how many Losing Tricks (LT’s) you have in each suit and add your LT’s to the partner’s presumed number for a minimum opener – seven. Subtracting the total from eighteen will tell you how many to bid in support.
