August 1996, Miami Beach, Florida

Funniest non-bridge story of the week By Sam Leckie, Scotland.

When I handed copy for the Daily Bulletin to Editor Henry Francis, I re marked, “I printed it because some people complain about my handwriting.

After glancing at it, Henry replied, “It’s OK. You should see some of the writing we receive.”

Then he added, “Wait and I’ll show you one from a couple of days ago.”

He then looked through his file and handed me a sheet of paper.

“Have you ever seen anything like that?” he asked.

“Pretty horrible,” I said.

Yes, you’ve guessed it. He handed me the sheet I had given his co-editor, Brent Manley, a few days previously

Not so expensive By Sam Leckie, Scotland

In the Press Room the other day, Patrick Jourdain inadvertently backed into a fellow journalist who was drinking a cup of coffee while standing near his personal computer. The coffee spilled onto the computer which came to an abrupt stop, and a small explosion followed.

Realizing what he had done, Patrick apologized profusely and added, “I must replace it.”

The journalist said, “No, no. It is much too expensive.”

“I meant the coffee,” said Patrick.

Who am I now?’

Recently while attending a social function, a lady sitting at the same table asked me,

“Were you not once Sam Leckie, the bridge player?”

I replied that I was.

But I could not resist adding, “Tell me, madam, would you mind telling me who I am now?”
