Teachers use the card game to strengthen students’ concentration. The TV News; France 3, visited classes where bridge is taught.
Students are eager to go to class at Montaigne Poix-du-Nord (Nord). The program that morning, two hours of Bridge. In tables of four, they sit at the conference room. Thirteen cards in hand, keep score, develop a strategy with the partner, initiate a contract, a discovery for all rather pleasant. “I work, but it looks like we do not work, but in fact you are working, your French, English and Math,” explains one student.
An asset
The meeting was interrupted by passages to a board to review strategies and garner knowledge. “It helps in a lot of things: mental arithmetic and logical reasoning (…) it is something concrete,” said Coralie Payen, Math teacher. In French and English also serves as the bridge to learn the language and dialogue. 500 to 600 teachers are trained in this discipline that could soon take up more space in schools.
