5th World Youth Open Bridge Championship – 1st Information letter

5th WORLD YOUTH BRIDGE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

15th – 24 th August 2017

Organised by the World Bridge Federation in cooperation with the French Bridge Federation.

We are very pleased to confirm that the 5 th World Youth Bridge Open Championship will be held at

CITÉ CENTRE DE CONGRÈS Lyon, France

Format of the Championship

The Championship consists of three events: World Pairs Championship – World Teams Swiss/KO Championship – World Teams BAM Championship.

Right to enter

The Championship is open to all players born on or after 1st January 1992 (Juniors & Girls) or born on or after 1st January 1997 (Youngsters) or born on or after 1st January 2002 (Kids) in good standing with their own NBOs. Teams and Pairs be made up of players from the same NBO.

NBOs may send as many teams or pairs as they wish.

In the event that an NBO is not able to arrange its own national representative team or pair, players may play with eligible partners/team mates from other countries of the same Zone and will play as representatives of that Zone.

To be eligible for participation in the 2017 World Youth Open Bridge Championship all participants must comply with the WBF Laws and Rules & Regulations and sign the WBF Commitment form.

Rules & Regulations – Systems Policy

The Rules & Regulations, including the Disciplinary Code, will be published, together with the Systems Policy, on the WBF website.

Schedule

  • Pairs Registration Tuesday 15th August (starting 10.00 hrs)
  • Opening Ceremony Tuesday 15th August at 19.30
  • Pairs Championship From Wednesday 16th to Friday 18th August (Prize-giving at 19.00)
  • Teams Swiss/KO Championship From Saturday 19th to Wednesday 23 rd August
  • Teams BAM Championship From Monday 21st to Thursday 24 th August
  • Prize-giving & Closing Ceremony Thursday 24th August at 19.00 hrs.

Registration of Pairs and Teams

The entries to the Pairs and Teams Championship must be submitted electronically, via the WBF website (not by email) and should be made before 1 st July 2017 wherever possible. Entries for pairs will be accepted later, provided there is sufficient space at the venue. The website will be open for registration from 1 st April 2017.

Registration for teams composed of players who participated in the Youth Pairs World Championship and wish to enter the World Swiss/KO Youth Teams Championship, and for teams eliminated from the Swiss/KO World Championship and wishing to enter the World Youth BAM Teams Championship may be made on site.

Entry Fees

The entry fees are:

World Youth Pairs 200 € (Euros)

World Youth Swiss/KO Teams Championships 750 € (Euros)

Teams from Swiss/KO will drop into the World BAM Teams Championship. Entry is free of charge for the teams coming from the Swiss/KO, otherwise the entry fee is 400 € (Euros)
