Audrey Grant
Audrey Grant

The ACBL announced in New Orleans that Audrey Grant and Michael Rosenberg will be inducted into the ACBL Hall of Fame at the Summer NABC in Chicago. Grant will receive the Blackwood Award for bridge accomplishments away from the table. She is one of the best-known authors and teachers the bridge world has ever known and has been responsible for bringing more players into the game than any other single individual.

Michael Rosenberg

Rosenberg, known as the expert’s expert, has a Rosenblum title and four silver medals in World Championship play, as well as 14 NABC wins. His other titles include the Gold Cup, Britain’s mostprestigious knockout championship, the Sunday Times Invitational, the Cavendish Pairs and the WBF’s Par Contest.

Sportsmanship Award

Howard Weinstein

IBPA member Howard Weinstein has won the 2015 Sidney H. Lazard Jr. Sportsmanship Award. Weinstein will receive the award at the Summer NABC in Chicago, coincidentally his home town for decades before retiring to the southern states. Weinstein’s most famous act of sportsmanship occurred in the semifinal of the 2007 Bermuda Bowl in Shanghai, when he allowed an opponent to pick up what would have been a penalty card due to a revoke. Why? Weinstein had taken an inordinate amount of time to play his inelegant five notrump contract and realised that his tempo had contributed to his South African opponent’s mispick. There could be no more deserving recipient of the award.
