The 2015 Fall NABC is being played in Denver, this is an excerpt of the most important Bulletin 8 news:
Hurd, Grue capture Blue Ribbon title
John Hurd and Joe Grue, 67 matchpoints out of first with one session to play, came through with a good game despite some hiccups near the end to win the Kaplan Blue Ribbon Pairs by 15 matchpoints on a top of 38. The win was the second in a row for Hurd, who won with Justin Lall in Providence last year. Second place went to Frenchmen Thomas Bessis and Frederic Volcker, whose 60.78% game in the second final session lifted them from 12th place to the runner-up spot. In third place were Owen Lien and Zach Brescoll, the leaders at the start of the day on Thursday and after the first final session. Hurd now has eight North American championships, Grue six. Besides the Blue Ribbon wins, Hurd’s North American championships include two Freeman Mixed Board-a-Match Teams (2009 and 2015), the Kay Platinum Pairs and Swiss teams victories and the NABC+ Fast Open Pairs, his first major win, in 2003. Grue has won the Reisinger Board-a-Match Teams (2006), the Keohane North American Swiss Teams in 2008 and the Vanderbilt Knockout Teams in 2012.
